The Significance of You...

"You will feel the most significant experience, you will become ecstatic if you can feel that the whole existence needs you, that you will be missed, that if you are not here there will be a gap. You will be missed. You are not unnecessary. You are not superfluous. You have tremendous significance. Hence, love yourself. You are needed as much as the trees, as the flowers, as the birds, and as the sun, as the moon, as the stars. You have a reason to be here and you have a right to be the way you are."

Osho

Have you ever thought, that if you were not here, everything in this world would be different?

Just like the butterfly speading its wings can cause for a wind to blow thousands of miles away. Every word you speak, every step you take and every example you set, can do just the same. And you'll never know the power and the potential you have in that, until you simply trust these words. And see your purpose in that. It is why you are here. With reason.

Because life is all woven together. And nothing is without purpose.

Like a butterfly. Spread your wings. Beautifully.

Much Loves,

Angela.

Finish Each Day... And Begin Again...

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in, forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

Your Perfect Imperfections...

"There is perfection in imperfection."

Angela Gwinner

I know I need this reminder myself today.

And I tend to think, I'm probably not the only one.

It is our little imperfections, that make us so unique.

Like no other. A one of a kind. And once in a lifetime.

Our imperfections are what make us the Mona Lisa's of the world.

And learning to love our little imperfections...

We turn the scars on our knees and hearts into beauty marks.

We turn our weaknesses into our strengths.

And we can wear them, like the jewels on our crown.

Yes, I know I need this reminder myself today.

And I tend to think, I'm probably not the only one.

Much Loves,

Angela.

Random Thoughts... And Energy Flows...

Mother Teresa once said...

"I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there."

And the sadness, the shock of the past days have made me think of these words again and again... again and again.

We need to put our thoughts, our words, our awareness and our attention to the compassion of this all.

As in all situations of despair and loss, of hurt, and of all those doings that we can't comprehend, we can't let our focus drift from the hope that this wasn't all in vain.

I don't know how many lessons we still have to learn, how often history needs to repeat itself again and again... again and again.

But I swear, I'm not going to give up my hope that one day, we won't wake up to hearing breaking news as we did the other day... and so many other days in the past.

And I'm not going to give up my hope that one day, those lives taken and those families broken, are the gold in a beautiful mosaic that we piece back together.

Just like that beautiful Japanese word. Kinsukuroi. To repair with gold.

With the understanding, that something is more beautiful for having been broken.

Call me naïve if you like. But I'm not giving up my hope.

And energy flows where attention goes...

We have to focus our attention in the right direction... Consciously. Awake and aware.

Because in all the sadness, it's been so beautiful seeing the way people have been coming together. And holding each other.

Showing solidarity. Regardless of the religion or the race. Je suis Charlie.

Let's not give our attention to what went wrong or what caused it to go wrong.

Rather let's give our attention to making it good again. And right again.

And as Mother Teresa once said...

"I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there."

Much Loves,

Angela.

A New Day...

"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever and In its place is something that you have left behind. Let it be something good."

Your Story...

"If you own the story, you get to write the ending."

Brené Brown

Three Things...

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you are going to have something special."

Jim Valvano

Learning to Love...

"I must learn to love the fool in me. The one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity."

Theodore Isaac Rubin

Allow Yourself to be Seen...

"This is what I have learned. We must allow ourselves to be seen. Deeply seen. And vulnerably seen. We must allow ourselves to love with our whole hearts, even though there is no guarantee. And to practise gratitude and joy, even in those moments of fear and when we are wondering, "Can I love you this much?". Because to feel vulnerable means you are alive. Believe that you are enough."

Brené Brown

A Big Psychic Orgasm...

"To achieve the marvelous, you must do the unthinkable...
The answer will hit you, like a big psychic orgasm.
If you listen to your dreams, they never lie."

E. Jean Carroll

Think the marvelous for this coming year. Dream beyond.

And live as if...

Live as if you are already there. In poise. In gratitude.

In the rituals you start and end your day with.

In the way you approach your work. And your play.

Fall into the essence of it. The emotion of it.

Feel your way there. Before you think your way there.

Like with all things orgasmic.

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you are wonderful. The Question of the Year. The Question of the Life.

"To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Lord Alfred Tennyson, Ulysses

The question of the day. The question of a moment. And maybe, just maybe, ironically, the question of a life time.

What would you do, if you knew you only had one day, one week, or one month to live?

"When you get those rare moments of clarity, those flashes when the universe makes sense, you try desperately to hold on to them. They are the life boats for the darker times, when the vastness of it all, the incomprehensible nature of life is completely illusive. So the question becomes, or should have been all a long... What would you do if you knew you only had one day, or one week, or one month to live. What life boat would you grab on to? What secret would you tell? What band would you see? What person would you declare your love to? What wish would you fulfil? What exotic locale would you fly to for coffee? What book would you write? "

Excerpt from the film "One Week"

Dearest friend came over tonight and brought a movie.

I remember the phone call a few weeks ago, when she asked me if I had heard of the film, or seen the film... "No," was my reply. "What's it about?"

She simply said... You'll understand, we'll watch it together. The film will take you home and to all the places you were as a child, where you grew up... It'll narrate the stories that you tell me when you talk about Canada and her greatness. Of all the places you've seen and the moments that raised you and created you and let you become..."

I had to promise her, not to watch the film... That I'd wait until we'd watch it together. And that was tonight.

But it was also the story of the film that so dearly touched me, caressed and pierced me. Thrust itself into me.

And in the one instance, home felt so far away and it felt so close. Yes, the touch and the smell and the sensation and a thousand memories and a thousand dreams called hopes and yearnings and desires that all united themselves into a clarity.

It was just the right film to watch on a day like today. The first day in a new year, the first day in a new chapter... Because it reminded me what I want this day, this moment, this year and this life to hold and embrace and experience and tell stories of...

Dearest friend and I sat silently on the couch together afterwards.

Simply because nothing needed to be said. Simply because everything was simply understood. For each other. And between ourselves.

She left shortly afterwards, we just simply hugged and said... "Talk to you tomorrow."

I poured myself a glass of wine, pulled out an old box of photographs. From home.

And then the phone rang and it was dearest, oldest over the memories of years and times and maps and life friend on the phone...

And when I answered, her first question and first words on the phone were... "Hon, are you coming home for a visit this year?"

And it reminded me...

"To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Angela.
